From Humble Beginnings to Brinitzer Landscape Architecture: A Journey of Growth and Rebranding
Brinitzer Landscape Architecture was founded by Scott Brinitzer and Carroll LeTellier in 1987 as Scott Brinitzer Design Associates. Initially, the company operated out of an apartment in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C., taking on small garden projects. In the early ’90s the firm, organized as a design-build company, relocated to Northern Virginia to keep up with growing demand for their services.
Continued Development Through Experience and Collaboration
The experience gained over the next 20 years designing and building gardens provided the design team with invaluable real world construction knowledge, informing and streamlining our creative process. This extensive knowledge is integrated into each of our projects.
Our close association with a dedicated contractor base continues to be invaluable. A design can be developed by the Architects, passed to the contractors, priced, and built without interruption. Post-construction, ongoing design maintenance, administered by garden professionals, ensures that the client’s investment is protected and our design vision remains true throughout the years.
Strategic Growth and Rebranding
The business model changed in 2009, becoming a design focused Landscape Architecture firm. With Brendan Kenny joining the firm in 2013, our team gained a valuable asset who brought exceptional design and management skills, as well as a meticulous attention to detail that has greatly benefited us over the past decade. In 2024 we rebranded as Brinitzer Landscape Architecture to better reflect our mission: to create beautiful outdoor spaces that respond to our clients’ unique needs, that are exceptionally crafted, and that are environmentally responsible.
